February 11 : The Perfect Pair : Cooking for Two - Kitchen Romance & Outlaw Wine Pairing

with author/Refugio owner Brigit Binns and Ranchero Cellars winemaker Amy Butler on Sunday, February 11th at 4pm

There is nothing more romantic than a candle-lit dinner for two, and when it’s a collaboration of two like-minded diners, the process is almost as much fun as the (edible) payoff. In this class, specifically designed for couples, we will explore the challenging task of creating menus and pairing wines for you and your partner.  Just as no two relationships are alike, each of us has our own unique palate.  One partner may fancy a crisp white, while the other longs for a full-bodied red.  In this highly interactive class, each menu item has been designed by Brigit and Amy to pair equally well with either red or white wine.  Each team of two will explore, choose, and then discuss their favorite pairings for each dish with the whole class.

You will learn (and eat):

  • Wilted Savoy Cabbage Salad with Duck Confit and Kale Chips
  • Wild Mushroom Risotto with Winter Herbs
  • Ragout of Salmon, Leeks, Potatoes, and Bacon

Very special guest, Outlaw Winemaker Amy Butler, will pair and pour the 2014 Carignan, 2016 Chrome (Grenache Blanc) and 2017 Carignan Rose from her award-winning Ranchero Cellars line-up.

This is a demonstration class; the fee is $110 and includes a welcome glass of Prosecco and multiple generous tastings of Ranchero Cellars wines.

Attendance will be limited to 14 students.
